Chamber’s press release for the Dublin Moving to Portugal

Conceived as an exclusive event for those interested in buying a second home in Portugal, the Shows were launched in late 2017 in the UK to publicise Portugal’s very tax-efficient Non Habitual Tax Regime (NHR) which appeals to retirees and businesspeople thinking of reviewing their tax affairs and moving to Portugal.

Since then, over 2800 visitors have come along to hear our seminars on the tax, legal, and wealth implications of moving to Portugal.

Alongside the seminars, which run throughout the day, visitors can meet our seminar speakers on their stands, and also talk to a wide range of lifestyle and property exhibitors from all over Portugal.

Over 500,000 Irish holiday makers visit Portugal every year, and many of them return again and again and decide to buy property there. In 2019 there are over 90 flights a week between Portugal and Ireland at peak summer times.

Due to this pent-up demand, and requests from Irish buyers for their own dedicated event, we are now bringing the Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars to Dublin, on Wednesday 15 May from 11am to 9pm, at The Alex Hotel, Dublin D02 H678.

The event is supported by our event partners the Ireland Portugal Business Network.

The doors open at 11am and we close at 9pm.

  • The first seminar starts at 11.30am, and will be repeated again at 3pm and 6.30pm to allow visitors to come during the day and after work.
  • We will be serving tea and coffee all day, and Portuguese wine from 5pm.
  • We have a limited number of 90 seats per seminar and over 50% of the places are already booked
  • Book your seminar place online at www.movingtoportugal.ie

Each seminar lasts two hours, with a coffee break in the middle, and will feature 6 short presentations from Irish specialists on different aspects of buying a home and moving to Portugal, whether you plan to retire there, buy a second home or move for tax reasons.

The Irish find Portugal’s Non Habitual Tax regime an excellent tax planning mechanism and our Irish pensions and tax and legal specialists will present on tax and residence issues vital for Irish nationals to plan for.  Seminar speakers include Mazars (Ireland), TMF (Malta), Edge International (Portugal), and International Pension Transfer Consultants (Ireland).

Christina Hippisley, the Chamber’s General Manager, and property agents and resort developers from Portugal will also discuss living costs, health and insurance issues, and the prices and types of properties to buy in the Algarve and the rest of Portugal.
