Dedicated website about Portugal’s Covid-19

Chamber members EDGE International Lawyers have now created a dedicated website giving pragmatic updates about Portugal’s Covid-19 response and how legal and practical matters can continue in the meantime. The Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa has begun to outline measures to facilitate the gradual return to normal after the 2nd May when the latest extension to the State of Emergency ends.

The plan is to revive the economy in May whilst still keeping the spread of the virus under control. In order to effect this, the Government has until 2nd May to transmit the necessary confidence to the population so that they can make a return to normal and, as a result, reactivate the economy. This will include  making available personal protection material such as masks and gel sanitizers, determining hygiene standards to be applied in workplaces, to public places and public transport.

The idea of opening the secondary schools has been proposed, as well as the re-opening of over the counter services at public services such as the Tax Departments, Town Halls and Vehicle Licensing services and the reopening of small neighbourhood businesses such as local shops.
