Portugal’s national news agency LUSA  has reported that between January and August 2022, investment into the country raised through the Residence Permit for Investment (ARI), also known as the Golden Visa program, totalled €397.7 million, 34.7 percent more than in the same period last year.

According to Lusa, in August 2022, 77 ARIs were awarded, of which 64 were for the acquisition of real estate (31 for urban rehabilitation) and 13 for capital transfers in Portuguese investments.

In August 2022, 19 Golden Visas were granted to China, 10 to Brazil, another 10 to the United States, five to Pakistan and four to Morocco.

Since the ARI programme was launched in October 2012, 11,060 Golden Visas have been issued.
